Global Batteries Xpress Alberton, under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. Last revised 21 August 2026.
1. Who is responsible
The responsible party is Global Batteries SA, registration number 2018/496880/07, of 6 Voortrekker Street, New Redruth, Alberton, Gauteng, trading as Global Batteries Xpress Alberton.
Our Information Officer is Monique Coetzee, contactable at alberton@gbxpress.co.za.
2. What we collect, and why
When you buy or reserve a battery we collect your name, contact number, e-mail address and vehicle details. We need them to issue your tax invoice, to record which battery was fitted to which vehicle, and to settle a warranty claim later without arguing about what you bought.
Vehicle registration and mileage, where you give them, are recorded on the job card. Test results are recorded against the job. Where you open a fleet or trade account we collect the business details and the credit information needed to run the account.
Warranty registration. When we fit a battery we register it against your name, contact number and vehicle on the Novax® warranty register, which the Franchisor, Global Batteries Xpress (Pty) Ltd, operates for the whole network. We have to: registration is what creates your warranty record and lets any store in the network settle a claim. That means the Franchisor receives those details, and it processes them for warranty administration and for the replacement reminder — nothing else.
We do not collect card details on this website. Where online payment is available it is handled by a third-party payment provider.
3. What we use it for
Issuing invoices and job cards. Settling warranty claims. Contacting you about your vehicle when a battery is due for replacement, if you have agreed to that. Complying with tax and waste-record obligations. Nothing else.
We will not send you marketing you did not ask for, and every message we do send will tell you how to stop it.
3.1 On what basis
Most of it because the processing is necessary to perform the sale contract with you, or to comply with a legal obligation — a tax invoice and a waste movement record are not optional. Replacement reminders and marketing are processed on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time without affecting anything else.
The order form on this website asks you to confirm that you have read the terms of sale and this notice. Those two confirmations are what the form records; they are not a consent to marketing, and ticking them does not put you on a mailing list.
3.2 Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access and unlawful processing. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk of harm to you, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
3.3 Information processed outside South Africa
Where a service provider we use — a payment provider or a hosted point-of-sale system — processes information outside the Republic, we require a level of protection substantially similar to that required by POPIA before we send anything to them.
4. Who we share it with
The franchisor, Global Batteries Xpress (Pty) Ltd, for warranty administration and for the network's point-of-sale and customer-record systems. Our payment provider, for payments. Our accountants and auditors. Credit bureaux, for account applications, where you have consented. Nobody else, and we do not sell personal information.
5. How long we keep it
Invoices and job cards for as long as tax law requires, and in any event for the warranty period plus the period in which a claim could still be brought. Enquiries that do not become sales: 12 months.
6. Your rights
You may ask what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, withdraw consent to marketing, and complain — to us at alberton@gbxpress.co.za, or directly to the Information Regulator (South Africa).
7. Cookies, tracking and the map
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It contains no analytics, no advertising and no social-media tracking, and it loads no files from any third party.
The one exception is the map on the "Find us" page, and it is your choice. That map comes from Google, and Google will see your IP address and may set its own cookies once it loads. So we do not load it. The page shows our address and a button; nothing is requested from Google unless you press it. If you would rather not, the "Open in Google Maps" link takes you there in a new tab instead, on Google's own terms rather than embedded in ours.
8. PAIA
Our manual under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 is available on request from alberton@gbxpress.co.za.
